Planned around the wall, not the box
A TV unit is really a wall composition — the panel behind, the console below and whatever shelving sits either side. We set the television at seated eye height, size the panel to the wall rather than the screen, and keep the proportions calm so the wall does not end up looking busy. Back panelling in veneer, laminate or louvred timber lifts the whole room.
Wiring you never see
The difference between a good TV unit and a bad one is usually cable management. We run conduit behind the panel from the screen down to the console, put the sockets and the set-top box where they can be reached but not seen, and leave slack so a future replacement does not mean opening the panelling up again.
The rest of the living room
The same workshop makes the pieces that go with it — shoe racks by the entrance, crockery and display units on the dining side, and low side storage. Made together, they share a finish, which is what stops a living room looking assembled from separate purchases.
Common questions
- Wall-mounted or floor-standing?
- Wall-mounted looks lighter and makes floor cleaning easy; floor-standing carries more storage. Both are made to your wall size.
- Can you hide the set-top box and wiring?
- Yes — conduit runs behind the panelling and the box sits in a ventilated compartment in the console, reachable but out of sight.
